PCA was founded in 1973 by a well known Austin psychiatrist who was interested in building a practical organization to support his clients in their search for meaningful work. In 1983 the business changed ownership and grew to become one of Austin's leading resume services. Over the next six years the business incorporated more aspects of career guidance and counseling including individual and corporate outplacement services. By 1989 PCA had become a full service concern in all aspects of career change and had doubled in size. In 1993 the Capital Area Job Club was added, providing opportunities for networking and training, free to anyone who needed them. In 1998 management again changed as the company was purchased by Juliana M. Harris. In purchasing PCA Ms. Harris saw an opportunity to exploit her skill set developed over many years with Drake Beam Morin Inc, the country's largest outplacement firm. Under her leadership PCA added additional services including 5 types of assessment techniques, interview preparation and negotiation classes. In addition she has developed a set of training modules for corporate clients including such topics as sexual harassment and workplace diversity. Ms. Harris continues to broaden the scope and vision of the company through affiliation with such organizations as; The Austin Chamber of Commerce; The Austin Human Resource Management Association; and the Society of Human Resource Management, just to name a few. Today PCA is regarded as Austin's premier professional counseling organization. With services for both individual and corporate clients PCA is well positioned to help anyone from the board room to the mail room. As we grow we will continue to add more services and resources, striving to help anyone who truly wishes to be successful. Vision Mission PCA Success Factors: 2. In a time of unprecedented employer flux and job loss, the purpose and importance of PCA services has never been more important. 3. At PCA quality is a verb.
